OWI was awarded a 5-year agreement to partner with the Interagency Special Status/Sensitive Species Program (ISSSSP). ISSSSP’s mission is the conservation and management of rare species in the Pacific Northwest, and is administered by the Regional Office of the U.S. Forest Service and Oregon/Washington State Office of the Bureau of Land Management. OWI will work with ISSSSP to design, implement, and analyze the results of strategic surveys of wildlife habitats in both native and working landscapes.
OWI will be conducting 3 projects in partnership with ISSSSP in 2013:
• Assessing habitat quality for red tree voles
• Assessing the status of kit foxes in southeastern Oregon
• Identifying habitat characteristics promoting occupancy by pond turtles in the Umpqua Basin.
